How to grow your own urban garden

We as a nation have become used to and almost obsessed with the choice of food that supermarkets can offer us all year round, this has inevitably resulted in people not growing their own vegetables, herbs and fruit and in turn is creating a laziness and a throw away society. We need to bring back the responsibility of using any and all resources around us to encourage the next generation to learn how and where food can be grown and enjoyed with little expense to your shopping budget. Even urban areas are able to be utilised to promote and encourage the next generation to be as self sufficient as possible while at the same time, enjoying having a hobby, learning how to appreciate the value of the food that we eat. It is a proven fact that if children help to grow their own vegetables, fruit and herbs, they also learn about seasons and harvesting, they will be more inclined to try new things and experiment with new flavours.
